Mayilsamy Biography
Mayilsamy is a supporting actor and comedian of Tamil movies, his most memorable roles being - Dhool,Gilli, Kangalal Kaidhu Sei, Devathayai Kanden, Rendu and Thiruvilaiyaadal Aarambam. He is a guest judge on Asathapovathu Yaaru on Sun TV right now. In 2004, he received Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian for the movie, Kangalal Kaidhu Sei. His son, Anbu (Arumainayagam) is to make big screendebut very soon.
He was born in Sathyamangalam, Tamil Nadu on June 5, 1965. Before entering movies, he has been active in theatre and drama. He was a part of comedy troupe popularly known as "Sirrippu Isai" whenhe was spotted by film makers. "Sirrippu Isai" is a popular comedy troupe of Tamil Nadu from which anumber of popular comedians of Tamil came from. His association with Lakshman (of Lakshman Shruti fame) for successful mimicry releases, namely "Sirippo Sirippu", "Sirippo Super Sirippu" and "MeendumSirippo Sirippu" was quite successful. His film debut happened in the year 1985 with the movie, Kanni Raasi. Mayilsamy was only 20 then.
After that, he became a popular character artist of Tamil cinema and has done numerous memorable roles as a comedian, character artist or supporting actor. Apoorva Sagodharargal, Sivalingam, NadeNamade, Vetri Raagangal and Villathi Villain are a few such. He has worked in more than 100 movies and has already completed silver jubilee in Tamil cinema. During 2000s, aside another comedian Vivek,he gained popularity. Dhool, Kandaen Seethayei and Pennin Manathai Thottu are the most memorablemovies where he worked aside Vivek. Mayilsamy has a memorable association with television too. He has hosted Comedy time of SUN TV for three years and appears as guest judge on Asathapovathu Yaaru.In 2003, he received Best Host - Sun TV Telly Awards.
